Barron’s is a well known test prep company.  While they offer online test prep for certain exams, the LSAT is not one of them.  The Barron’s LSAT test prep is all hard copy and does not contain any online lessons.  It does however come with two additional online practice LSATs and a real practice LSAT (using previously released LSAT questions).  Because the test prep is mostly in the form of a book, it is important to keep in mind students will not have anyone there to answer personalized questions.  The Barron’s LSAT book covers logical reasoning, reading comprehension, analytical reading, and the LSAT essay.  It is also important to note that aside from the one real practice LSAT, all other LSAT practice questions are made up by the company; they are not official LSAC released questions.  Barron’s keeps it simple in terms of their LSAT test prep.  It’s the perfect study tool for those students who are looking for a little extra practice.

Basics

The Barron’s LSAT test prep is by far the cheapest option when it comes to preparing for the LSAT.  However, it is important to keep in mind this is also a very bare bones approach to LSAT prep.  The book comes with an introductory chapter that explains the LSAT, a three month plan to get the score you want, and comes with a diagnostic test as well.  The rest of the book delves into the ins and outs of logical reasoning, reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and the LSAT essay.

Included in each chapter of the book are study tips, strategies for taking the exam explained,  reasoning behind answers explained, strategies for controlling time, and a sample test with the answers explained.  In addition, the book comes with access to two online practice LSATs, complete with timed test sections, answers explained, and automated scoring.  It also gives access to one actual LSAT exam and answer explanations.

It is important to note that Barron’s uses made up questions to mirror what students will see on the LSAT, not actual LSAC released questions, as most other test prep companies do.  The diagnostic test should help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, which is a valuable tool when trying to increase LSAT scores.

The Barron’s LSAT test prep is ideal for students who are looking for a cheap and simple alternative to the more expensive and expansive test preps on the market.  It is good for students who prefer a flexible nature to their study, and who don’t feel the need to have personal instruction.  It’s also great for students who are looking for extra study on top of what they have already done.

The Barron’s second edition LSAT book can be found on Amazon for $27.65.  It can also be found at other various vendors such as Target, Barnes and Noble, and various online retailers.

Barron’s LSAT does not offer any kind of direct discount.  The books is sold through third party vendors such as Amazon. As a result, Barron’s does not have a direct contact line for questions related to the LSAT test prep.
