Varsity Tutors was founded with the vision to seamlessly connect experts and learners in any subject, anywhere, anytime.  Varsity Tutors was founded by Chuck Cohn who saw first hand the benefits of good tutoring, but also the detriments of poor tutoring.  The team at Varsity Tutors looks for more than just perfect scores in their tutors, they look for excellent communicators and teachers, who can effectively translate concepts to their students. Varsity Tutors hand picks their tutors to adequately meet the needs of their students.  Depending on location, Varsity Tutors is able to offer both in-home and online LSAT tutoring.

 

Basics

Varsity Tutors offers one-on-one private tutoring for the LSAT.  They do not offer any form of group tutoring whether that be in-person or online.  Varsity Tutors specializes in the one-on-one tutoring, which is how they are able to keep a 4.9/5 satisfaction rate.  Varsity Tutors offers a satisfaction guarantee.  If students are not satisfied with their first tutor after the initial session, Varsity Tutors pledges to help find a tutor who will be a better fit.  Tutoring is completed through an online platform, with a personalized lesson plan, and “concierge-style service.”

Varsity Tutors provides students with a tutor who customizes lesson plans and goals to each individual student.  They also offer a mobile tutoring option, where students can take their tutoring lessons on the go in the form of tablets or phones.  The app can be downloaded in the App Store or on Google Play.

Varsity Tutors does not post their pricing on their website.  Part of the customization of their tutoring comes through speaking to each student prior to placing them with a tutor.  This helps to ensure an optimal tutor fit.  Depending on the location of the student, Varsity Tutors offers both in-home and online one-on-one LSAT tutoring.  They offer flexibility in schedule and location.

Varsity Tutors is ideal for students who need a little extra push in their studies, or for students who feel far behind in their LSAT prep.  The access to a one-on-one tutor helps some students who need a third party, to hold them accountable in their studying.  It is also ideal for students who may learn differently than the traditional ways taught in class.  The access to in-home private tutoring is perfect for those students with busy schedules, who prefer in-person tutoring, but do not have the time to go to a class.  While Varsity Tutors is limited in their tutoring options, their specialization in one-on-one tutoring has led them to achieve great customer satisfaction.

Varsity Tutors offers one-on-one LSAT tutoring.  Pricing will vary based on the needs of a student.  Varsity Tutors does not offer group LSAT tutoring, nor do they post their prices online.  Students will need to go to their website, enter their name, zip code, email, and phone number before receiving pricing.

    The LSAT Prep Materials were helpful, and their lessons taught test strategies very well. The schedule for their eight week program was intense- you will live and breathe the LSAT for eight weeks. Practice tests and time to work problems independently improved my score, and having someone walk you through your mistakes made all the difference.

    I utilize both private tutoring and group classes. Both had great benefits to them. I used the private tutor to focus on the area that I was the weakest and the group classes to strengthen areas and I felt more confident in.

    My tutor from Varsity Tutors was amazing. He worked around my full time job schedule so I could meet in the evenings or weekends. He also offered advice based off his recent experience applying to school. I took my second LSAT exam after my sessions with my tutor and was able to increase my score by 3 points.

    I work full time, so varsity tutors was the number one option for me. Their program, practice tests, and questions were thorough and allowed me to learn and prepare much more easily than I would have been able to if I had gone to an in-person class. That travel time instead went straight to my studying time, and in the end it benefited me as my score went up 10 points from my first practice test to the real thing.

    This is a great prep course! I decided to spend the money and do the one-on-one online course. I had the same tutor every-time and he took the time to explain each question. I'm not the best test taker so the one-on-one experience allowed me to really focus and learn. I believe with this company the materials used are up to the tutors discretion but most of the time the tutors just used old LSATs. Great course! Highly recommend!

    I liked the consistency of having a tutor that I met with weekly and who was able to pinpoint where I was struggling and was able to assign me homework to do each week in order to address those weaknesses and keep me on track. Despite this, I did not find that my tutor was the best fit for me and I didn't find any significant increase in my scores due to his tutoring. I discovered at the end of the tutoring that my tutor had scored lower on his final LSAT score than I had been consistently been scoring throughout the period I was studying. I wish the tutoring company had taken the scores I had been getting on my practice tests and paired me with a tutor who had scored better than me.

I put it off while studying for the LSAT and did not leave myself much time to get my application prepped and together before the application deadline, which perhaps prevented me from having the best and most polished application.

    I chose to work with Varsity Tutors because I knew that I was capable of teaching myself the typical classroom curriculum from a book and wanted more individual attention with applying concepts and practicing problems. I found this to be a really good use of my money, as I had 6 2-hour sessions for less than the price of a typical class curriculum. My tutor was extremely well prepared and well-placed to tutor me. The only thing I did not like is that Varsity does not provide materials, so I had to buy separate LSAT prep tests.
